second domain: license timing

  • Hello,

    I'm just about to set up a second domain, however will be developing it for a month or so before launching it. Do I need to set up a new site now, or can I wait till next month before registering a second license?

  • a) try to avoid file edits by using hte plugin system
    b) if you must edit the vb core files, make good comments before and after the edit and use a file compare tool like beyond compare to copy your changed over.
    c) depending on your file editor, you could do a global find and replace with the lisc #'s.


  • all good points, however what I'm asking is "is it neccesary to replace all the files to change a customer number, or can I just replace one file"


  • The license agreement allows you to setup a test version of vBulletin. You could setup a testforum for vBulletin and set things up there. From there, buy a license, overwrite all the files, and then open your site.


  • You need to replace all the .php files with the correct ones for this license.

    I suspected that was the case but thought it better to confirm it first.

    Is it possible to change the license number without overwriting all of the files as I will be heavily hacking the site.
